Cantaloupe Sold in Michigan Recalled for Health Risks

Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Issues Warning

Do Not Consume Cantaloupe Purchased from Certain Stores

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) has issued a recall for cantaloupe sold at certain retail locations in Michigan due to potential health risks. The recall affects cantaloupe sold at the following stores between August 15th and September 15th: * **Kroger:** All locations in Michigan * **Meijer:** All locations in Michigan * **SpartanNash:** All locations in Michigan Consumers who have purchased cantaloupe from these stores during the specified time period are urged not to consume it. The cantaloupe may be contaminated with Salmonella, a bacteria that can cause serious illness. Symptoms of Salmonella infection can include: * Diarrhea * Vomiting * Fever * Abdominal cramps * Headache * Fatigue If you experience any of these symptoms, contact your healthcare provider immediately. MDARD is working with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to investigate the source of the contamination. The recall is expected to remain in effect until the source of the contamination is identified and eliminated.
